Kinja'd!!!

I took a mental health day to tinker on the bikes. Got them both running well and took them for a spin around the neighborhood. These are two very different beast. The TT is just a brute. Tons of torque, barrels through turns on its knobby tires, shakes like crazy, built like a shit brickhouse.

The 175 is small, dainty, and much smoother. Still very raw feeling, especially with my thin neoprene seat pad. Lacks low end grunt, but is never nimble. Perfect for cruising around hilly roads. It’s straight piped right now, but I’m looking for baffles so I cam build a custom exhaust. Mufflers won’t fit with the rear sets.

The TT is much easier to work on. It’s a stupid simple design, and Mikuni carbs are much better designed than Keihin’s. The bowl design on the Keihins is very obnoxious and leads to float level issues. I love how the TT is just one big ass carb feeding one big ass cylinder.

The negative space in your carb is larger than the pisto n on my C70

Ah, the TT really looks like my old Suzuki DR 125 from the same era that has been waiting for a “new” carb for years (it has a Mikuni if i recall correctly) be cause of... floater issues :(

It’s at the secondary house at 2 hours from here so i am not going there frequently (and long) enough to think about fixing it, should definitely take pictures of the carb next time to check on ebay for a replacement .

Very nice, I II would lwould love alove to have an old bike like that to tear around in. I looked at a Bridgestone 200 over the weekend, need ed a lot, and he wanted too much, made an offer, but he didn’t bite.

You could probably slap a VM24 or VM26 on there and be gtg.

Yeah, it’s about the same size as the pistons in my CL450. The piston in this TT is real thicc.

Do it. These are very well built bikes, and easy to repair. People have already paid stupid prices for them on Ba T. I got mine for $2k from the original owner which I think was a great deal. It’s bo red out to a 540 with increased compression, a performance cam and the larger Mikuni. They’re a bit of a PIA to start, but are lots of fun.

More to come hopefully

In fact its a TS and not a DR, i really don’t like those “bolted” carbs which can’t be adapted if you don’t have the exact same coupling.

Seems like there are some brand new Keihin and Mikuni that are really looking like the one it already have (the VM24 and 26 are quite similar and might also do the trick) .

Yeah, thats’s how the carbs are on my 175. It’s also more of a hassle to remove them for cleaning.
